System R1 may be applied for automatic and semi-automatic operation of one-way and both-way circuits, within an international region (world numbering zone). When utilized in an integrated world numbering zone (e. g. Zone 1) the numbering and routing plans and operating facilities of that zone should apply. The system is applicable to all types of circuits (except TASI derived circuits) meeting CCITT transmission standards, including satellite circuits.
